Finance Manager
Location: North-West London (3 days in office)
Reports to: CFO
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 + equity
Start Date: Candidates must be available to start immediately or within one month
I'm working with a high-growth technology business operating within the digital media space. They've been scaling rapidly over the last few years and are now preparing for their next phase of expansion, with revenue projected to move into the eight-figure range. As part of that growth, they're building out their internal finance capability and bringing key functions in-house.
This position will be the organisation's first dedicated internal finance hire, working directly alongside the Finance Director. It's an opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations while also helping to establish the processes, systems, and structure that will underpin a more mature finance function.
It's a great fit for someone who enjoys a broad remit, thrives in an evolving environment, and wants a role with high visibility and impact.
The RoleWe're seeking a Finance Manager who can manage the full operational finance lifecycle - everything from transactional processing through to month-end close and reporting.
You'll oversee AP and AR, payroll coordination, VAT, bookkeeping, and month-end deliverables. You'll also work closely with the Finance Director on management reporting, financial insights, and ongoing process improvements across the finance function.
The position would suit one of two profiles:
- A developing finance professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and step up into a more autonomous role, or
- A seasoned finance operator who values flexibility, ownership, and a low-politics working culture.
- Processing supplier invoices and managing approval workflows
- Running payment cycles and maintaining accurate supplier data
- Reconciling statements and ensuring correct VAT treatment
- Raising sales invoices and managing cash collection
- Maintaining debtor reports and short-term cash projections
- Liaising with sales and delivery teams to resolve invoicing issues
- Coordinating with an outsourced payroll provider
- Posting payroll journals and reconciling PAYE, pensions, and related accounts
- Managing expense claims and company card reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate ledgers and posting routine journals
- Reconciling all balance sheet accounts and managing fixed asset records
- Assisting with VAT returns and MTD requirements
- Delivering timely month-end closes
- Preparing management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary
- Supporting audit processes with schedules and documentation
- Collating sales performance data and preparing commission calculations
- Ensuring commission accruals align with invoicing activity
- Checking usage or billing data from external partners
- Validating fees, adjustments, and month-end partner accruals
- Assisting with intercompany allocations and billing
- Supporting documentation and transfer pricing processes
- Experience is welcome but not essential
- Reviewing current workflows and identifying enhancements
- Helping shape a scalable finance tech stack
- Creating SOPs to support consistency and future growth
This role will suit someone with a solid grounding in finance operations who's ready to take real ownership. My client is looking for a finance professional who brings a mix of technical capability, initiative, and the confidence to manage core processes independently.
What we're hoping you'll bring:- A few years' experience working within a UK finance function - you might come from a management accounting, operational finance, or similar background.
- Strong practical understanding of day-to-day finance processes, including payables, receivables, VAT, and month-end tasks.
- The ability to work accurately and methodically, with a real commitment to getting the detail right.
- Comfortable stepping into a role where you'll prioritise, organise your workload, and keep things moving without needing constant direction.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting software (Xero, Sage, NetSuite, or comparable systems).
- Professionally trained or progressing towards a recognised qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), though my client is equally open to those who've built their expertise through on-the-job experience.
- Confident with spreadsheets and able to interpret and manipulate financial data.
- Someone who communicates clearly and can collaborate effectively with teams across the business.
- Any familiarity with multi-entity or intercompany activity would be a bonus, but not essential.
- A mindset geared towards refinement and improvement - not just maintaining processes, but elevating them.
