IT Helpdesk Support Apprentice

This hands-on role will offer practical experience across core areas of IT support, including service ticket handling, hardware setup, user support and on-site assistance. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and receive full training while gaining a recognised qualification.

Role

  • Respond to customer support requests in line with SLAs
  • Answer phones using standard procedures and provide first-line technical support
  • Perform daily backup checks and escalate issues where necessary
  • Configure and install IT hardware (PCs, laptops, printers, routers, etc.)
  • Keep customers informed on progress through the ticketing system
  • Work to resolve tickets promptly or escalate to 2nd line support when required
  • Document installations and support procedures accurately
  • Support internal hardware logistics (e.g., moving kit to work area)
  • Collaborate with team members across Flex
  • Attend client sites with team members when needed

This new Microsoft apprenticeship is part of QA's drive to support Microsoft’s Get On 2021 campaign, a five-year initiative to help 1.5 million people build careers in technology and help 300,000 connect to tech job opportunities. 

QA’s Azure Cloud Support Specialist Level 3 apprenticeship programme enables the apprentice to:

  • Learn on-premise and cloud-enabled technologies and services
  • Learn technical content that aligns to and is relevant to employers and the market
  • Gain an Azure Fundamentals Qualification and a Microsoft 365 fundamentals qualification
  • Get an introduction to Windows, Linux and PowerShell

Tools and technologies learned: Learners will learn to use Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows 10, AWS, Linux, PowerShell.

There is potential for full-time employment at the end of the programme, with scope to specialise in advanced IT roles, including 2nd line support or field engineering.
