In-House Legal Counsel – Life Sciences & Technology

This is a standout in-house legal role offering genuine variety, responsibility, and intellectually stimulating work. Operating across multiple global jurisdictions, the role is fast-paced, dynamic, and never repetitive. It is a true in-house position with close involvement in the business and meaningful exposure to complex commercial and regulatory matters.

The company is a software provider specialising in Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) and data quality oversight solutions for the clinical trials and life sciences sector. Its technology supports pharmaceutical companies, CROs, medical device organisations, and academic researchers in delivering high-quality, reliable clinical data while safeguarding patient safety. The business sits at the intersection of technology, data, and regulated life sciences, making the legal function a critical partner to the wider organisation.

THE JOB:

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the business across a broad range of commercial and legal activities, including:

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing complex international commercial contracts and terms & conditions with customers and suppliers
  • Providing legal advice and contract interpretation on non-standard legal, financial, and commercial issues
  • Managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from template development and negotiation through to execution and internal distribution
  • Maintaining and updating contract templates and playbooks to ensure compliance with current legislation across relevant jurisdictions
  • Advising on data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR
  • Supporting corporate housekeeping and governance, including maintenance of corporate records, entity documentation, and coordination with external counsel
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to business operations and handling ad hoc legal queries
  • Working cross-functionally with commercial, operational, and technical teams in a collaborative, international environment

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The role would suit a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and navigating complex, cross-border issues. The ideal candidate will have:

  • c 2 – 6 yrs PQE
  • **Familiarity with technology contracts, including SaaS licensing**
  • Experience using AI-enabled legal tools and an interest in leveraging emerging technologies to improve legal processes
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Demonstrable experience advising on GDPR and data protection
  • Experience working in multi-jurisdictional and cross-border environments
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities independently
  • A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to life sciences, pharma, med-tech, or regulated environments (e.g. GxP)
  • Experience advising on or negotiating US-law governed contracts
