2nd Line Support Engineer (In-house)

Our client is a well-established UK technology services business for an in-house IT 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their Internal IT team in Solihull.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting end users face-to-face, and improving the day-to-day IT experience for colleagues across the business.

What you’ll be doing
  • Delivering 2nd line support (phone, email and in person)
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software issues
  • Managing laptops, mobile devices and peripherals
  • Setting up new starters (device build/config, access, onboarding support)
  • Administering Active Directory and Microsoft 365 (incl. Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Working tickets in a service desk tool, meeting SLAs and keeping users updated
  • Supporting maintenance, updates and contributing ideas to improve support processes
  • Escalating effectively when needed and following IT/security policies
What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience in an IT support / service desk environment (ideally 2nd line)
  • Strong Windows + Microsoft Office support skills
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
  • Basic networking troubleshooting knowledge
  • Experience with ticketing systems and a customer-first approach
  • Great communication and the confidence to support colleagues in person
  • macOS exposure and cybersecurity awareness are a bonus
