MES Technician

We are recruiting for a permanent MES Technician for our Banbury based client. This is a hands on role with a strong shop floor presence, supporting critical manufacturing software and hardware systems to ensure smooth, continuous production. Working closely with operations, quality, production teams and the MES Analyst, you will play a key part in maintaining, improving and developing MES and related systems, while providing first-line technical support and driving continuous improvement.

This role would suit someone with an IT support or infrastructure background who is comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys problem-solving under pressure and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service with a strong focus on safety, quality and customer support.

As a MES Technician, you will need to have/be:

  • Professional, approachable and leads by example
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Organised, flexible and able to work under pressure
  • Proactive, results-driven with a strong safety and continuous improvement mindset
  • IT infrastructure or IT support experience
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills (PCs, scanners, printers, mobile devices)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio
  • Experience managing hardware repairs and vendor returns
  • Excellent customer-facing and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in automotive or fast-paced manufacturing environments (desirable)
  • Exposure to SCADA, ERP, MES, PLC or Linux systems (desirable)
  • Experience with IT helpdesk software, SQL/Postgres, Power BI or development languages (desirable)

  • Salary: £29, 000 - £30, 000
  • Working Hours: 5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Role of MES Technician:

  • Maintain and support manufacturing software applications, including MES
  • Provide strong shop-floor support, working closely with operations, quality and production teams
  • Deliver first-line support for manufacturing software and hardware to ensure continuous operations
  • Work with the MES Analyst to develop, improve and support manufacturing systems and CI projects
  • Train and support key users, providing cover when required
  • Create and maintain system documentation, work instructions and SOPs
  • Support cross-functional teams with quality issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain databases, reports and data visualisations to support KPIs and improvements
  • Liaise with Global IT, MES teams, suppliers and external partners on production-critical issues
  • Participate in production and departmental meetings to ensure effective communication
  • Support general IT service desk activities when required
  • Drive continuous improvement of IT processes, ensuring compliance, safety and housekeeping standards
  • Participate in the on-call rota and carry out other duties appropriate to the role
