Job Description – IT Support Engineer
Salary: £35,000–£50,000 Location: West London Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
Overview
My client is seeking a proactive and hands-on IT Support Engineer to deliver high-quality technical support to both our internal teams and nationwide dealership partners.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a busy, hardware-focused support environment and enjoys practical problem-solving. You will play a key part in maintaining day-to-day IT operations across devices, networks, Microsoft 365, and dealer-facing systems. Experience working in large enterprise or multi-site organisations is highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hardware & Desktop Support (Primary Focus)
- Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support for head office users and the dealer network.
- Support and maintain desktops, laptops (Lenovo/Dell/HP), printers, scanners, and meeting room equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace hardware components; conduct regular preventative maintenance.
- Manage the IT asset lifecycle including procurement, deployment, tracking, and retirement.
2. Software & Systems Support
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows 7/10/11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Manage Microsoft 365 user accounts, permissions, licensing, and configuration.
- Support employee onboarding/offboarding (accounts, access, device setup).
- Deliver user training and promote best practices across the organisation and retail network.
3. Network & Infrastructure
- Provide basic troubleshooting for LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and cabling.
- Liaise with external vendors or service providers for escalated infrastructure issues.
4. Automotive OEM / Dealer Network Support
- Deliver IT support for dealer operations including retail systems, remote access, and OEM applications.
- Assist with the rollout and support of dealer-facing systems such as DMS, CRM, and diagnostic platforms.
5. Security & Compliance
- Adhere to IT security standards and support compliance with GDPR, ICMS, and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base resources.
- Support periodic audits, security checks, and access reviews.
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in an IT Support or Desktop Support role (enterprise or multi-site preferred).
- Strong hands-on experience with PC and laptop hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Solid understanding of Windows OS (7/10/11) and Microsoft 365.
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers).
- Understanding of GDPR and experience working within security policies and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support users at all technical levels.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple issues at once.
